Exciting New Rewards For Subscribers

Help me decide which rewards to offer!

I hope that reading “Changing Lives” changes your life as much as writing it has changed mine! I started this weekly newsletter more than a year ago, and it has helped me gain confidence and connect with kindred spirits. It has reminded me that plenty of kind people are still saying and doing beautiful things in a world that sometimes seems unbearably cruel.

The haters may be louder and get more media coverage, but many of us are quietly changing lives, starting with our own. We’re coming together to support each other every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who lets me know you appreciate my words and encourages me to keep writing!

I hope you will continue to support my work and share it with others, and I want to give you an added incentive to do that. Substack recently unveiled a referral program that enables me to reward current subscribers who share posts with people who then become new subscribers (free or paid). Once I’ve set it up, when you click the “share” button to share a post with friends and family or on social media and someone subscribes, you’ll automatically be credited with the referral.

There will be three tiers of rewards, based on how many new subscribers you refer. You’ll get your first reward after your first referral, the second one after five, and the third after ten. So … the big question is, what kind of rewards would you most like to receive? Choose one from the poll below, leave a comment, or email me to share your thoughts.

I’ve already decided the first reward will be a free three-month paid subscription (if you’re already a paid subscriber, you’ll get an extra three months free). And all paid subscribers will soon get content unavailable to free subscribers. Beginning in August, only the first week’s issue of “Changing Lives” will be free. The others will be exclusively for paid subscribers.

I’ll also be rolling out additional perks for paid subscribers over the next few months, like private discussion threads and deep discounts on new products and services I plan to offer. At $5/month or $50/year, paid subscriptions are an unbelievably good deal!

Here are some possible ideas for the second and third tier rewards. Which do you prefer? Substack’s polls only allow you to choose one option, but feel free to comment on how you’d rank the other choices, or suggest another idea.
